On Saturday, April 25, 2026, an agent with the United States Secret Service was shot in the ballistic vest. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 PM during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel. As the event was underway, attendees heard what appeared to be gunshots. In response, Secret Service agents entered the ballroom and quickly evacuated key government officials, including the President, First Lady, Vice President, and members of the cabinet. Other attendees were instructed to shelter under tables for safety.

The shooting took place outside the ballroom near a metal detector. It is believed that at least six shots were fired before the suspect was apprehended. The Secret Service agent who was shot has not been publicly identified; however, reports indicate the agent was treated and released from the hospital.

The suspect, Cole Allen, a 26-year-old educator from Torrence, CA, was arrested at the scene and now faces several federal charges.
