A Tulsa, OK, airport police officer is recovering after being shot early Wednesday. A female airline passenger travelling from Houston to Tulsa had been threatened by her estranged husband prior to leaving Houston, stating that he was going to kill her when she arrived in Tulsa. She notified Houston Police, who in turn notified Tulsa Police. Upon arriving in Tulsa shortly after midnight, Tulsa City and Airport police officers were escorting the woman to a parking garage to her awaiting vehicle when the estranged husband opened fire on the woman and officers from across the drop-off/pick-up lanes. The woman and her brother, who was driving the car, were able to escape unharmed. Officers then pursued the suspect into a parking garage. In the exchange of gunfire, a Tulsa Airport Police Officer was struck in the chest but was wearing a bullet-resistant vest that stopped the round. The suspect was shot in the foot and was apprehended. Both the officer and the suspect were taken to a local hospital, where the officer was treated and released, and the suspect remains in treatment. Multiple charges, including attempted murder, are pending against the suspect.
