Two Thomas County, Georgia, deputies are recovering after being shot early Tuesday. Shortly after midnight, the deputies were serving an arrest warrant on an individual wanted for a probation violation. During the attempted arrest, a struggle occurred between the deputies and the suspect, who was able to take one of the deputies' handgun and open fire on them. Both deputies were struck by gunfire, one below his ballistic-resistant vest, and the second on his ballistic-resistant vest. The suspect then fled the scene on foot and is still at large. One deputy was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
