Five officers with the Sherburne County, Minnesota, Drug Task Force were shot Thursday morning. At approximately 7 a.m. Thursday, officers with the Sherburne County Drug Task Force were attempting to serve a search warrant at a home in Glendarado Township in Benton County, when a 64-year-old resident of the home opened fire on the officers. The officers returned fire, and in the exchange of gunfire, five officers were struck. A brief stand-off ensued, before a tactical response team was able to take the suspect into custody.
The suspect was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The five officers who were shot were all transported to a local hospital. Two officers, who had been shot in their ballistic-resistant vests, were treated and released. The other three officers remained under treatment for what officials described as “non-life-threatening injuries.” The incident remains under investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
