Two Clackamas County, Oregon deputy sheriffs were shot Friday morning. Shortly after 7 a.m. Friday morning, Clackamas County deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress. Upon arrival, the deputies attempted to arrest two individuals they found at the scene. A physical struggle ensued, and the suspects fired at the deputies, striking one in the arm and the other in the torso, where the rounds were stopped by the ballistic-resistant vest the deputy was wearing. Additional deputies who responded to the scene moments later were able to take both suspects into custody without further incident.
Both injured deputies were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. In a Friday afternoon press conference, Clackamas County Sheriff Angela Brandenburg stated, “I am grateful beyond words that I can stand before you today and say one of our deputies has already been released from the hospital and the other is expected to be released later today,”
